Description
Amy Johnson – A Life in Pictures is a large format photo book which gathers together almost 200 photographs of Amy taken throughout her life. Her story has been told many times in words, but now these contemporary photographs provide a rich, direct, visual insight into Amy’s remarkable story. The photos have been drawn from a wide range of sources, private and public, from the family archives to museum collections. Many of these photographs have not been seen before and capture Amy as a child and a student, at home with her family, on holiday, horse-riding and motor-rallying, as well as making celebrity appearances on flights across the world. An introduction by David Marchant, Museums Registrar for East Riding of Yorkshire Council provides biographical background to the photographs.
These often atmospheric and moving pictures also give a rare glimpse of a past era and a rapidly changing world, spanning Amy’s 37 eventful years. This is a beautiful and lasting tribute to Amy Johnson on the 75th Anniversary of her death.
