MOTH PROTOTYPE TAKES SHAPE

MOTH PROTOTYPE TAKES SHAPE

The festival’s mass public art project ‘A Moth for Amy’ has moved one step closer with the first casting of the two part fibreglass shells of the Moth. The moth original was created by Skipsea-based sculptor, Saffron Waghorn, pictured here with the prototype. After scanning her sculpture, Ideal Standard made a full-size mould in their Hull factory and formed the first moth which is 1400mm across! Looking on is Tony Schultz of Hull engineering company, Strata, who are providing specialist technical support for fixing the completed moths to building facades. Full details of how artists can get involved will be announced shortly, together with business sponsorship opportunities.
