Weeds in Flight
Weeds in Flight
Artist – William Vinegrad
Design Description
Taking inspiration from the wastelands that surround the Hedon Road area where Amy practiced flying her plane at the aerodrome. My moth is covered in painted flora inspired by the weeds that grow within these industrialised areas. I aim to take these small weeds and encourage the viewer to appreciate them and in turn appreciate their surroundings. I reinterpret these weeds by creating kaleidoscopic harmony through drawing, and microscopic wonder through photography. Through photography I take the tiny and make it huge raising my subjects against the sky for astonished admiration. Moths like weeds are understated creatures muted in colour and too deserve a platform.
