Design Description
I have taken inspiration from the “Art Deco” styles of the1930s, in particular the sculpted glass from that era. Winged creatures such as butterflies and moths were popular images, and have tried to evoke their translucent qualities. In paying tribute to Amy Johnson, I imagined her in the form of a winged glass sculpture and have incorporated a stylised portrait of her into my design.
Artist Statement
I have extensive experience working as an arts teacher curriculum adviser and community arts facilitator. I have worked on a number of public art works including community murals and textile wall-hangings. I painted one of Lincoln’s “Magna Carta Barons” as a part of the Magna Carta 800th Anniversary celebrations. My business, Stitchin’ Time, offers textile-based activities to groups and individuals.
