Artist – Susan Webber

Design Description

This Moth called Journey, is a colourful celebration of Amy’s achievement of flying to Australia. Journey is decorated in the style of aboriginal dot paintings. It tells of Amy’s journey from England to Australia. There are symbols within the painting which have specific meanings, such as the mountains and forests she had to fly over and stormy weather which she encountered. There are stars, moon and sun to symbolise the passing of the days. The symbol on the head of the moth, which looks like ‘in’ means Woman in Aboriginal art. Journey honours Amy’s great adventure.
