High Flyer

High Flyer

Artist – Michelle Heron

Design Description

‘High Flyer’ is inspired by the flight path Amy Johnson took where she had to contend with dangerous mountain terrain. The moth is made using modelling paste which creates the rugged texture of snow peaked mountains, giving it a 3D appearance.

Artist Statement

Michelle is a painter based in London. Her work depicts seemingly ordinary and mundane scenes in the urban environment. Many of her paintings stem from the disappearance of socially and historically important buildings, and her love of vintage shop fronts. Michelle has painted for several public art trails including ‘Books About Town’ in London, Transport for London’s ‘Year of the Bus’, and more recently, Birmingham’s ‘The Big Hoot’. Michelle has recently been shortlisted for the John Ruskin Prize 2015 and The Lynn Painter-Stainer Prize.
