Fly, Amy! Fly, Liubov!

Fly, Amy! Fly, Liubov!

Artist – Clare Holdstock

Design Description

This moth celebrates the fierce determination of two women pioneers. In the same period of history that Amy Johnson the aviation heroine had picked up pilot lessons, the Russian avant-garde artist Liubov Popova was working alongside several other women artists at the vanguard of modern Russian design. ‘Fly, Amy! Fly, Liubov!’ remembers these two women whose lives were both tragically cut short, as well as rejoicing at their triumphant achievements at a time when the voices and talents of women were not always recognised.
