Flight of Passage

Flight of Passage

Artist – Julia Rogers

Design Description

Seeing Amys flight like a rite of passage the final design evolved from the concept of creating protective symbols from the recognisable parts of a Tiger Moth plane. The symbols were developed into a repeat pattern similar, in colour too, to those seen in the architectural detail in Vienna, one of Amys earliest stops.

Artist Statement

Julia Rogers creates the unfamiliar from the familiar, representing objects through the process of transformation. The transformation can be a gesture distilled from a response or an alteration of scale, distortion or meaning.

That ‘aha’ moment when confusion makes way for clarity is a moment of connection through space and time between the artist and audience.
